The store is dunzo!! We had our last day of work yesterday and were given a day off today! We had a crazy 3 days when Mike Jeffries was here so the break is definately appreciated! The store opens tomorrow and I am sooo excited to see all the excitement! I saw the map security has drawn up of the way the line will wrap around the city and it is crazy! They expect people to start camping out tonight and the store doesn't even open until 11am tomorrow! There is one guy in Tokyo that is determined to be the first person in the store!
Some fun facts about the Tokyo Ginza A&F:
the store is 11 stories and 23,000 sq ft
the height of the store makes it the tallest building in Ginza
the flagship houses the world's largest commissioned handpainted mural in history
the Ginza flagship is A&F's 5th flagship store and 1st store in Asia
the playlist is played throughout the store using 114 speakers and 83 subwoofers
Mike J left yesterday after 3 days at the store. He was accompanied by a lot of people from home office, including VPs and Senior Directors. His Ginza visit was definately different from Milan. He made a lot more changes and it was a lot more work, but he didn't spend as much time in the store as he did in Milan. I got to work more closely with him this trip when I was making changes to the mens department that he wanted. His first day there I had an akward moment with him... I was wearing a plaid shirt and the button on the sleeve got caught on the belt loop.. as one of my associates was getting me untangled he walked into the room. After giving him the usual "Hey, what's going on?" tagline he replies "Well hey, what IS going on here?" haha! He came over and assisted in the untangling and made sure I was ok before moving on to the next floor of the store. I was mortified, but he was very nice about it!
We ate dinner the other night at Gonpachi, the restaurant in the Kill Bill movie. It was so good! You basically just order a bunch of skewers and share everything. The chicken, steak, and bacon wrapped asparagas were my favorite! It was so good! We are going back to the sushi place I liked today, I'm pumped!
We are going to do a little exploring on our last day in Tokyo! We are going to go to Tokyo Tower, which is like the Eiffel Tower of Japan. Then we are going to go buy more random trinkets for gifts! The souveniers here are SO much better than Milan! They have the funnest & most random stuff!!
I'll post more pics later :)
Love yall!
p.s. Do one thing for me today- listen to some Mariah Carey Christmas music... I miss it! Haha!
